Zippo insert Soft flame adjustment (weird screw)

I bought recently another Zippo insert, was Soft (or Yellow) flame but i had a major problem, the height of the flame has HUGE and there was no adjustment screw on the bottom! I try to use in in the Cafe but i was not happy at all. I start searching the internet for a possible solution ,many were saying that nothing can be done but i am not a person that gives up the fight so easy and i finally i found this:

is there a way to lower the size of the flame on a yellow flame butane insert? Pictured is the one I got. I want to reduce how much fuel it burns through

In the end of the article is a picture with a smoker using an U shape bit, some test it and worked some no, so there was no other option for me: I had to try. My wife was grousing ''it's late, it's night, not proper time for this" etc but i went outside were my tools were determined to solve the problem!

I knew that i had in my cabinet a set or bits for ''Electronic'' work

and i found an almost identical bit, yes !

i removed the 2 tiny screws of the plate

and saw better the two notches for the U bit

i put an extension, insert it and FAILED! In any attempt gas was released because the U shape wasn't long and couldn't reach the notches so no turn at all. I made a small brake, i couldn't work on the U bit especially that hour with a rasp to make it deeper so i had to put all parts back in place and go to a Lighter repair shop. That means time and money plus the devastating acceptance of defeat.
I look it again and i took a final decision with a ''No surrender" spirit, i would push the bit deeper (no matter if all butane was coming out) to reach the notches otherwise i would brake the valve and the repair cost would be almost the 2/3 of the insert's price. I tool a breath and said ''who dares, wins", pushed the bit, more gas was coming our and finally manage to make a small turn clockwise. In the Reddit were saying about one or two turns but mine took only a 1/4. Rest for a minute and made the attempt to light it hoping for a good result, i couldn't do anything more at that time. With anguish i turn the wheel and voila!

The height reduced a lot and that is enough for my Cigars, yes Ladies and Gentlemen i can announce the Victory.

Awesome post, very informative, and great storytelling, Sid! I'm sure the victory smoke tasted much better.
