I have long envied the Kaywoodie calabash meer/gourd pipes but never found one I could afford. Lovely pipes, those, too.

My meer better show up soon! The anticipation is killing me!
Mid-March changeover. For now it'll be fruits, vegetables and nuts - blueberry hinted Firedance Flake, the mighty Yanik Cabbage and me. I like everything about this large, arguably ugly pipe except the need for X-long pipecleaners.

Nice to smoke - crazy big. About like 1 2/3 Generals maybe.

That cabbage meer is indeed a strange one :)
Currently having a bowl of Trash Can Punch (homemade flake, what it sounds like) in my Altinok meer.
Well....here it is...my first ever Meer purchase!

It has some obvious rim char, a little bit of cake, and the stem/shank will def need to be cleaned...I've never worked on a Meer before so we will see how it goes.
All in all I am really happy with it. The price was right and seeing it in person is even better than it looked on Ebay.
Thanks a lot you enablers... :p
Love it.
Some Escudo on this fine morning.

Stem/shank - pipecleaner + alcohol. A little cake - fergettabowdit. Crud (not char) on the rim - that's a personal thing. If you want it gone and kept gone it'll be a smoke x smoke thing - same ole same ole; spit and a paper towel + a little gentle rubbing when the pipe is cold.
Just smoked some MacBaren 7 Seas Gold in the SMS meerschaum. This is a great smoking pipe, and it's not really as white as it looks in this photograph.

@Mister Moo I have been keeping my promise of only smoking my meers this month, problem is I keep posting in the "what did you smoke today" part of the forum out of habit instead of here.
So, re-post yesterday's pipe. Smoked some Sherlock's Choice in my African Meer.

Two bowls of Firedance in the Yanik Cauliflower.
Breaking in a Tom Sawyer Missouri Meer with some homemade flake.
Hiya Brandon,
First, congratulations! The pipe looks better than it did in the listing and I left a few of the pictures in this post cuz it's so pretty. Enjoy it!!
As stated, I haven't smoked a meer in a long time but I've worked on a lot of them. Use care, because briar and meerschaum are very different raw materials. Meerschaum's absorbent (not like a sponge) and a less than pristine cloth can cause a (permanent) stain. Rub carefully because even moderately coarse cloth can round the surface.
Getting the tar stain off of the rim (entirely) will be difficult. No soaps, chemicals (absorption) or abrasives are the rule of the day.
When meers are manufactured they're polished with beeswax that would burn off soon after smoking commenced. Others on this thread may be able to offer more insight about polishing them but gently rubbing the surface (highlights in this case) with a sheet (material) will smooth the surface very slightly for polishing. Do not use the Handi-Wipes that I use on a meer (briar's fine).
CAO's first business was meerschaums and their pipes because the most respected brand of Turkish made meerschaums. It was long after that CAO began to have cigars and tobaccos made for them. Did the seller give you a date on this pipe? Looks like 1970s.
Regards,
Pete
Davidoff Flake Medallions (thank you, Tobias!) while cleaning up my first GBD estate.

I've smoked this pipe more in the last few weeks than I have since I got it. MMM is making me want to start browsing meers. Go away PAD!
Having some homemade flake in a Missouri Meer (giving the real Meers a day off).
McC Navy Cavendish in the Paycok dublin this morning and a big bowl of same in the Yanik Cabbage this evening. Very nice, thank you for asking. :D

Been working on the stem of my meer...still not as clean as I would like but I don't think I can resist lighting it up much longer!
Probably tonight I'll finish filling out my brackets and enjoy a bowl or 5 in that bad boy [emoji2]
Some delicious SG St. James Flake.

I'll be smoking my Meer tomorrow, and seeing some Meers my friend owns tomorrow. We will be smoking and drinking all day watching some good ol' March Madness!
I'll be sure to nab pics of his Meers for all you guys to check out! Should be a great time! :pipe:
Meanwhile, enjoying some homemade English flake on top of a coin of bullseye flake in my Altinok meer.
Tonight I'm enjoying some Dark Strong. The bottom of the pipe is just starting to show a little more color.

Well it was an excellent time. Many pipe bowls smoked today and many great basketball games were watched to boot!
Leave it to me to merge the Meer Madness thread with the actual March Basketball Madness :p
Here is the Meer Porn as promised. There was another Dragon one that I wasn't able to get a shot of.
