The older ones before the Brylon revolution were decent pipes.....

Got these tins at the local B&M, Smoky's Tobacco and Cigars. Ted Sluder also gave me about 2 ounces of his latest English blend and a couple of bowls of PS Navy Flake.

I bought enough rope to hang myself; 1 lb of G&H Sweet Whiskey Twist - 'cause it was on clearance at P&C for $2.50/oz, and 1 lb of G&H Sweet Rum Twist - 'cause they sent me a $50 coupon apologizing for the shipping debacle a while back. Now all I need is a flimsy chair to stand on...
A pipe club friend who is a budding pipe maker offered this pipe at an irresistible price last Wednesday night, so I bought it. It has some nice birds eye grain on either side.

Stocked up on some blending and smoking tobaccos at one of Pipe & Leaf's liquidation sales last week. Got these at wholesale prices.

Dang, man!
I was in a grocery store at lunch and saw this.

Picked up an old Mastercraft Hand Made bulldog (France) for cheap.
Had quite a bit of muck, but it looks good underneath.
Got the dirt cleaned away and the insides cleaned; now to tackle the stem. Not sure if I want to add any stain. It is in good shape, but the stampings are light. I don't want to sand it.

Good job on the rim! That's the toughest part for me to clean. How'd you clear the rim?
Looks great. Would love to nab an estate bulldog someday. Always liked em.
I know what you mean; I am crazy about pipes, pipe tobacco, and cigars. I'm still single but I do try to hide big purchases like this from my girlfriend. Most of this order is for blending but the Pirate Kake and the Engine No.99 were such a deal I couldn't pass them up.
Picked up these items during P&C's recent Father's Day sale. The ropes are Sweet Coconut and Sweet Maple. Four ounces of the Sweet Maple are on back order.

Picked these up last night. @Lostmason PM'd me yesterday evening and had seen the listing in Craigslist and looked to be not far away. It was only 4 miles away, so off I went. Not real sure of all that's in it yet as I haven't had the time to research them. There's some Kaywoodies, LHS, WDC etc. Anyhow, Matthew I received your address and I'll get you some pipes out in the mail to play with.....

I've been running low on Rattray's Hal o the Wynd (one of my favorites) because everyone is out of stock.
Smokingpipes has it in stock now, so I ordered 3 100 gram tins. Tossed in a tin each of Dunhill Elizabethan and Full Virginia Flake as well.
The package landed this morning!! You have managed to three holes in my "collection".
I've been watching for a Bulldog,a system pipe and a Brylon to fill out my little group.
Thank You , You managed to nail all three.The Yello-Bole Nova Brylon Bulldog was in really
good shape,just a good cleaning and sanitizing and tomorrow i'll take her for a spin.
Started on the system pipe now,It does have a bit of cake and the bit will need scrubbing,
but it should be a great pipe when done. Thanks again.I hope you have as much fun as
you've given me.
Made another small tobacco order this evening.
Picked up a couple tins of Cabbie's Mixture, as well as 3 different McClelland Virginias that I haven't tried yet. I got Tawney Flake, Beacon and Boston 1776.
I have loved every McClelland Virginia I've had. Anybody tried these?
Well, I bought some more.
I got an email from smokingpipes.com saying they had the McClelland 40th year anniversary in. So I picked up three 100 gram tins of that as well. One to smoke and 2 to stick back and forget about for a few years.
Since Photobucket quit allowing 3rd party hosting, I've been casting about for another convenient way to post pix. Here's my attempt at using Amazon Prime.

(trying again...)
(dangit, it doesn't work)
Thanks for bearing with me :) In this spirit of this thread, this is a pipe that I bought on e-bay from a guy in Germany who's liquidating a bunch of old stock of unfinished pipes among other things. I sanded it, bleached it, stained it yellow, and polished it.
Bought my first Nording pipe on Ebay last weekend and got it today in the mail. Only paid $30 for it.

I bought a used Italian pipe on SmokingPipes.com this evening. It has ALL of the characteristics that I've been looking for:
* Good condition (4.95/5, lightly smoked).
* My favorite shape (squat bulldog).
* Smooth finish with darkish color, decent grain.
* Straight stem.
* Broad (0.83"), shallow (1.20") chamber.
* Thick bowl walls.
* Straight-up bowl (no forward cant).
* Acrylic bit.
* Good weight (1.5 oz).
* Respected maker (Luciano).
I don't have the time and patience to maintain vulcanite bits. And, since I'm a holder, vulcanite bits have no benefit for me. It's as though Luciano made this pipe just for me!

Finally (after 3 years) found some SG Kendal Plug at Smokingpipes.com last week and bought some for the cellar.

Placed an order at Pipes & Cigars during customer appreciation week and got the "Goody Bag". Here's what I got; the second photo is the goody bag.
That's a pound of Lane Burley Light without a Bite in the upper left.

Just signed up for ebay this week with the intention of looking at pipes. After much frustration (being outbid at the last possible second) I got an idea of what to do and won my first auction today.
It is a pipe stand with 4 pipes.
I got it cheap, and mainly for the stand. So if any of the pipes are worth smoking at all it will be merely a bonus.
I'll post up pics when it gets here.
IDK what you do but I don't mess with bidding up stuff in little increments. Ebay does that for you anyway. Just put in the max amount you're willing to pay and then forget about it - it doesn't necessarily mean that's what you'll end up paying. I've put in a bid for 80 bucks on an item with a week left to go that had something like $7.50 listed as the current bid and ended up winning it for something like $48.00
The Luciano squat bulldog arrived today. I was surprised; delivery was scheduled for tomorrow, and I didn't know that the USPS delivered on national holidays. There was another surprise too; SmokingPipes said that the condition of this pipe was "4.95/5, lightly smoked". In fact, its condition is 5/5, unsmoked. Very pleased about that!
Luciano pipes are said to be machine made, but hand finished. In any case, this pipe is very nicely made and finished. The borings (chamber, draft, and mortise) are excellent - perfectly positioned and crisp with not the least chipping.
This pipe has the thickest bowl walls of any pipe that I've ever owned. That's a blessing for a holder like me - it means a nice cool pipe in hand, even on hot days.
I think I'm going to like this pipe, but it'll be a few days before I smoke it. I like to admire a new pipe in its pristine condition for awhile, and to get a few measurements; notably, weight and chamber dimensions.
I've always liked the Canadian style pipe with the long shank and short bit.
I just got my first one. It will be here early next week and I'll post up pics.
Congrats! I hope you like it. I like the similar Lumberman style even better. It has a short saddle bit whereas a Canadian has a short tapered bit. I don't have a Lumberman, but I do have a Lumberpot (Lumberman stem and Pot bowl). I like broad, shallow chambers with thick bowl walls.
Had some pipe stock from P&C's customer appreciation sale arrive today, graciously repacked and forwarded by Hardheaded, thanks again.
Stuff on the left (pipe, bag, cleaners, tamp, bracelet and 3 tins) was their customer appreciation gift. Then a couple packs of pipe cleaners, a can of Molto Dolce, peterson wild atlantic, some 1-Q, LBF and meat candy. Also figured I'd try cellaring some golden slice and erinmore.
Pipe cabinet is full for now. Now I need to restock the wineador.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...69dc11ad74.jpg

Got all of this for $12.50.
I was mainly wanting the rack. Turns out the pipes look pretty good.
The two straight ones are a brand I've never heard of. They both say "Goldenaire" and under that "Imported briar". The band says the words "Gold filled".
They both actually smoke pretty well.
The bent one says "Ansell's" Washington DC
A little research showed that Ansells was a pipe and tobacco shop there in DC many years ago. I couldn't find anything about who actually made the pipe. I've only smoked it once so not quite enough to form an opinion.
The goofy one with the carved head says "RealBriar" Made in France.
Haven't tried smoking it. May not. I see it as mainly a novelty.
Anyway, I'm happy for the money spent.
