You misunderstood. You get premium pipe tobacco. It is vets that help out the newbies. No dime baccy.

A new pipe smoker is paired with a experienced one. It's also not free. The new pipe smoker sends a tin of tobacco to the experienced one, and in return receives a number of samples of quality tobacco to try. If you read the entire thread, I think you'll find it's just what you are looking for. I've participated in a number of these and though I always include a sample of Carter Hall, I don't think you could classify any of the other samples I send as "dime store tobacco". Give it a try.
