Last night I had the urge to open a new tin, something I haven't tried before.
I opened a tin of McClelland's Oriental No. 14. It claims to be a "Full Scottish Mixture" and I have no idea what that means. It is wonderful. Black VA's, a wee bit of latakia, and LOTS of other oriental leafs. It is sweet and sour, smooth, with just a touch of latakia (which I don't like much these days, but I find I do like latakia when there is a light touch blending the latakia, like Bob's Chocolate Flake and this McClellands oriental #14). I smoked it in my latakia dedicated cob.
On the way to work this afternoon I had another bowl in a cob that never had latakia smoked in it. I wanted to more accurately gauge the strength of the latakia. It was even better than last night's bowl. Wonderfully light and smooth, with enough complexity that it's gonna take a few more bowls to really figure out this blend.
