Now that the FDA has handed over their proposed regulations to the OMB, it's important that we give the gov't one last push as a group concerning our thoughts on the matter. They need to understand that premium tobacco - handmade cigars, pipe tobaccos, and snuffs that aren't homogenized nor chemically altered - are different from cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and gas station "cigars". They need to understand that stopping people like us from buying premium tobacco does nothing to curtail youth consumption of tobacco. Children aren't consuming the tobaccos we enjoy, these tobaccos aren't marketed towards or appealing to children, and the whole idea that new rules & regulations on premium tobacco will stamp out youth smoking is preposterous.
Frankly, restricting the sale of premium tobacco products isn't going to curtail youth consumption of tobacco at all. Kids are smoking cigarettes like they always have, and they're smoking e-cigarettes. Those products need to be addressed.
Also, please don't turn this into a political debate. All political parties need to hear us loud and clear right now.
Well said Andy.
If anyone can explain this proposal tome, please do. It is so loosely written (and clearly not by anyone who understands the tobacco industry) and loose application of the law can be expected.
