I use EVOO to clean the outside of my briars. It dissolves skin oils. Then I wipe all off with tissue. As you note, it leaves a nice soft gloss.

Then a bowl of McClelland Red and Black in a Savinelli Series III.
It was my first bowl of Red and Black (I tried a fellow BOTL's at the local shop) and it was absolutely amazing. I will be ordering some immediately.

CAO Black tonight.
Really enjoy the tobacco. The pipe is pretty decent. The pipe is a bit of a gurgler and fails the pipe cleaner test but has a good feel and smokes cool.
Started earlier wit another bowl of PS Black Coffee in a Wiley short rhodesian
Now smoking a bowl of Captain Black original in the same
Drinking hot black coffee as is the norm
I just opened a 2+ yo tin of Fribourg & Treyer Vintage – a delightful operation. The aroma is scrumptious – this stuff smells good enough to eat. As close to an aromatic as you'll find in a straight Virginia. The color is medium brown, but variegated with flecks of lighter and darker leaf. Very pretty.
There are two stacks of neatly-cut rectangular flakes with no overlap or buckling. Moisture is just right too. And, unlike DF or Escudo, the flakes always separate easily.
And finally, the flavor of the smoke is wonderful – robust, savory, and a bit spicy. Wonderful tobacco, it is.
Fixin' to load up the big old Hercules 606EX as I wanted something with a "Super Bowl".....Tehe.....get it? It's Super Sunday and I wanted something with a Super (big) Bowl......Seriously, you must not understand as you're not laughing......Errrrrrr.....(Kaywoodie shown for size comparison).....

Yesterday was a bit hectic and I never had time for a bowl. So today I'm enjoying a bowl of Balkan Sasieni in a MM Legend and celebrating the birth of my first great grandchild, Naomi. She was 24 days early and is a bit small at 4 lbs. 12 oz. and 17 inches, but she's healthy, active, and has a good appetite. Attachment 6456

Had a bowl of McClelland 24 Virginia in a Dr. Grabow Savoy.
Also a bowl of McClelland Blackwoods Flake in my Ben Wade Freehand.
I'm really enjoying these McClelland Virginias. They have some stuff I don't care for, but when it comes to Virginias, they know what they're doing.
Tho not a Pipe smoker.
Just here to say you've presented the only sane explanation for that non showing in the second half of the game.
They may well wish they'd stuck around to prevent the Pats scoring TDs.
By opting for that partying they may well have picked up some STDs.
having a little OJK in a MM Eaton. Maybe a touch higher in the nic department than haunted bookshop, but not much. definitely a bit spicier.
Had some Samuel Gawith Chocolate Flake in a banded Dr. Grabow Berwyck.
Great lunch time smoke.
@Aguineapig , I'm planning on trying that PM Pipe this evening.
I have enjoyed the Virginia/Perique flake very much. It's a nice Vaper.
I have been on a McClelland kick lately.
Smoking a bowl of my homemade Burley flake in a Comoy's Guildhall chubby billiard. I never thought I'd say that a pipe blend was too strong but this is. It's all these fresh Burleys from whole leaf that make it strong in the N department.

I have yet to try a blend that's too strong. I've tried many of the ropes and twists and quite a few of the other 'overwhelming' blends out there. 'Strong' just means you smoke less of it and smoke it slower. Now I can't load up a huge bowl with happy bogie and smoke it down in half an hour and I wouldn't want to, but a couple small coins in my little prince is just perfect. I think of it as 'economical': a little bit will go a long ways. So the problem as I see it is that you NEED to buy a new pipe with a smaller bowl :p :p
+1
Mini meers are perfect for this sort of thing. I don't generally use them in public, however, lest someone think I'm smoking reefer :)
