Finishing this evening off with a bowl of Mac Baren Plum Cake in a Savinelli Bing's Favorite.
Smoking a bowl of Sutliff Match My Mixture 965 in a Dr. Grabow Collector's Choice rusticated bent billiard that I just got in the mail from Ebay. Drinking Diet Pepsi and planning out my day off. Going to the local B&M to see if they have any Penzance or Stonehaven and also to see if they have any McClelland bulks left. There was a recent (this week) shipment of Esoterica that hit the states, so if you might want to check your local B&Ms if you like those blends.
Thank you for the heads up. There are a few I want to try still. I don't think any local shops ever carry it but still great to know.
I tried smoking some Sutliff Metropolitan last night in a Cob. I say try only because it had a horrible chemical aftertaste that lingered for an hour after I stopped. I only finished a quarter of the bowl before I dumped it out.
Having some Orlik Golden Sliced in a Savinelli Champagne bulldog.
This is the first bowl of OGS I've had in probably a year. I forgot how much I like it.
Puffing Dunhill Navy Rolls in my Luciano squat bulldog. Going exceptionally well this St. Patrick’s Day morning.
No bulldog is a sitter, but this Luciano is so flat that it’s a solid “leaner” — leans at a shallow angle without spilling ashes.
Peterson University Flake in a Shannon
Puffing Dunhill Navy Rolls in my venerable (~1950) Kirsten Mariner. Good tobacco! Used the last coin in the tin, so what to open next? I’m thinking F&T Cut Virginia Plug.
Prior to opening another tin, I just filled my pipe with Wessex Classic Virginia from a jar. This modest vaper is bearing up quite well in comparison to the more prestigious Dunhill Navy Rolls.
Some Luxury Bullseye Flake. I can't quite fit 2 coins into my MM Great Dane.
Sam Gawith FVF in my Savinelli Sherwood Canadian.
G&H Sweet Whiskey twist in a gourd calabash. First bowl in a week and I ruined it. Left a bowls worth atop the wood stove which was just warm at the time, then got busy and forgot about it. By the time I remembered the weed was crunchy dry and had been baking for probably 20 minutes :( Loaded it up anyway after a little rehydration but everything good in it had apparently been baked to oblivion because it was like smoking a weak aromatic (less the room note). ...well, it was a little better than a weak aromatic but not much. I'll have to try again, that was awful.
Whiskey twist in the gourd again. Didn't bake it to death this time. Mush mo bedda.
Grousemoor in a Lakeland Snot pipe.

Ramsgate in a cheap Rigoletto Churchwarden.By the time I remembered the weed was crunchy dry and had been baking for probably 20 minutes Loaded it up anyway after a little rehydration but everything good in it had apparently been baked to oblivion because it was like smoking a weak aromatic
Puffing Wessex Classic Virginia in my Kirsten, after a trip to a pistol range to shoot my Beretta 87 Target.22 LR. Didn’t have a good session because I was in a foul mood as a result of an argument in another online forum. Never been angered here though!
No classes this morning so I started the day with a smoke while relaxing with some coffee on my front "porch." No idea what it was as it came unmarked as a gift a few years ago. I've marked it "Mystery Leaf 3." Pretty good stuff. Nice and smoky with a hearty, meaty note. Kinda tasted like a good campfire smells. Was a great way to start the day! Now I'm off to my studio loft to work on my show!
A couple of days ago I was going to open a tin of F&T Cut Virginia Plug, but at the last moment decided to open a tin of Capstan Medium (blue tin label) instead. Puffing that now. With 3+ years of age on it, it’s pretty good stuff.
At SmokingPipes I used to find Capstan among the Mac Baren listings. Now it’s not there, but has a listing of its own. Dunno if it’s still made by Mac Baren.
About to light up a bowl of Ashton's Artisan's Blend in a Dunhill shell.

I'm Jonesing for a bowl of G&H Rum Flake but it's probably not going to happen tonight. We'll see...
Trying out some G&H Bosun Cut Plug in a cob. A first for me.
-Edit: It get's the wife seal of approval. Apparently it brings back childhood memories of her mother when her parents would get ready for a night out.
Big n' Burley in a MM Cob and Folgers in my cup
Had a bowl of McClelland No. 24 matured Virginia this morning in my pre-Republic Peterson Shamrock.
Then I was in the mood for a Lakeland blend, so I'm about halfway through a bowl of Bob's Chocolate Flake in my Real Briar pipe. It's a bent pipe from France. They're carved with people's faces on them. I got it from eBay when I bought a pipe rack. I scoffed at first and considered it a novelty, then smoked it and was impressed. The darn thing smokes great. So it is my dedicated Lakeland pipe now.
Cheers.
Quadruple Virginia in a smooth, bent Dr. Grabow and some Cab Sav left in my glass from supper. Watching the Canes beat the Senators...so far
Puffing Hamborger Veermaster in my Kirsten Mariner. Very fine tobacco, and one of the few that I stock that isn’t made by STG. It’s good to have an alternative supplier. I like its smaller-diameter tin too — seals better than the Escudo-size tins.
Started with Captain Black Cherry in a"Birdseye Grain"Briar.
Now enjoying LL Dark Red in a Kaywoodie Prime Grain.
Both of which are straight Billiards.
Burning a little Sweet Rum Twist in a gourd calabash along with a Rochester Mills milkshake stout.
OGS in the freehand pick axe.
Pride of Lock Lomond in a MM Cob
Some LTF. Need to dry this one out a bit more next time. They seem to be quite a bit wetter than the LNF and LBF I bought at the same time.
I opened a tin of Solani 656, Aged Burley Flake this morning. ABF is unique — I know of no other tobacco that’s remotely similar. It’s a nice change-up for a Virginia and VaPer guy like me.
I've smoked that blend and had it taste great and then I've smoked it again another day and had it taste just like sweetened cardboard. Seems I have to be in just the right state of mind to enjoy a burley.
Thinking maybe of a bowl of McClelland 2015 would be nice tonight... but I'll probably scrap that idea when the time comes and opt for a Gawigh rope of some kind. The ropes and twists go better with a stout. I like stouts. I wish I could find my jar of happy bogie...
edit...
went with a small bowl of g&h brown twist sliced
Tsuge Fujin in a MM cob, Lazy Hiker Brewing Weser Evil Porter, Led Zeppelin IV
I opened a tin of Fribourg & Treyer Cut Virginia Plug. Puffing that now in my ancient (ca 1950) Kirsten Mariner. CVP has a very robust flavor, but is soft-smoking, with a pleasant room note (I’ve been told).
I found my jar of Bullseye Flake! Got a couple coins loaded into a Rossi lumberman for later tonight.
Random but the jar had condensation on the inside. Just a wisp but it looked like mold waiting to happen so I left the lid off for a couple days to let some of the moisture out.
G&H Brown Twist Sliced in a bent sandblast along with Bell's Oberon. Good combination! Better than I thought it would be.
Having some MacBaren Plum Cake in my London made Ben Wade apple.
Having a bowl of McClelland 40th Anniversary in my Savinelli Sherwood Rock Briar Canadian.
I only have 2 or 3 bowls left in this tin and I won't have any McClelland blends for a while. I have a few tins put away (not nearly enough). I won't try to put them away for decades or anything. Life is too short for that. However I will pace myself so I can enjoy them for as long as possible. One or two tins a year maybe. That will last me for eight or ten years if I do it that way.
Puffing Wessex Classic Virginia in my old Kirsten Mariner. This ready rubbed red virginia & perique tobacco is super reliable for me — always good. On SmokingPipes I see that the tin label has been changed. I hope that the tobacco itself hasn’t.
any pipers left around here
Not many I'm afeared.
I managed to burn half a cobfull of G&H Rum Flake over the course of the day yesterday but that's the first smoke in over a week. I'm hoping to get to burn a good bowlful of something in a briar tonight by a campfire but that depends on the temp and the wind. I'm not braving frostbite and hypothermia for the sake of a smoke. Nope. Not gonna do it...
