What tobacco just didn't live up to the hype for you?

    Title says it.

What tobacco that has glowing reviews did you try and it just not do it for you?

For me, and I know many of you love it, it's Peterson Irish Flake.
It just didn't hit the spot for me. It actually surprised me because it has such a huge following. I expected to love it and just didn't.

I think I'll jar it up and try it again later.

Surely I'm not the only one this has happened to.

For me it was the St James FVF, just didn't have the flavor kick that I expected. I put it down to my lack of experience.I'm still a newb with a lot of the blends and am still developing my palate. So for now nothing goes to waste,I save it and try again later.

Although I love St. James Flake, I know where you're coming from.
Several of the blends were an acquired taste for me. I think the issue was that I was a cigar smoker and wasn't used to how subtle the flavors are in pipe tobacco. The first time I tried FVF I didn't care for it and now it is my favorite VA blend.

    So I totally get that.

I think that's definitely the case with me, too. Not only am I used to cigars and their heavier flavors, but I grew up with my dad smoking English mixtures. To me, pipe tobacco IS English mixture! So I'm working on getting to appreciate VAs etc. It's burley I struggle with most, though.

Davidoff Flake Medallions. But like @Lostmason , that also might just be because I'm a noob. I've only tried it once so far, and need to smoke more VAs to get what they're all about.

I tried Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bullseye Flake when I first started smoking a pipe (which is very similar to Davidoff Flake Medallions) and I didn't like it at first either. I think I should revisit it now that I'm really into Vapers and try it again. I think I've still got a few flakes left. I'll have to do that.

I can smoke PA and CH at times. They are something I have to be in the mood for, and that isn't really that often.

My wife and I are in the steps to quitting cigarettes, this is opening a great many flavors that I didn't notice before. It is amazing how we can limit our senses and experiences with stupid habits that aren't all that enjoyable. In the between time ,I do have a few ounces of Sutliff blends that are burley heavy and I enjoy them quite a bit. I also have two pouches of Cpt Black original that I haven't opened yet,we see how they taste in the coming weeks.
