Hi folks,
I hope it's OK to post this question here. My wife bought a wooden box that I plan to use to keep my dry cured short smokes in. She stained the outside, but as you all know that smell is potent. The inside I told her to leave untouched, but my concern is the stain smell penetrating the cigars in the box. We considered sealing it, but I thought I would ask you guys what your thoughts are, and if you have any better suggestions.

No practical help with this but maybe you should try a "DRY" run with a couple sticks in there at a time for a few weeks.... if you don't notice a change fill it up
Fill it with rock salt and close it for a week or two, then clean it out and check to see how it is.

Orrrrrr..,....buy a tupperador for a few dollars and stick a Boveda inside and know that your cigars will be great.
Dry cured cigars don't really need humidification. Also, this box is something that my wife had made for me with an engraving on top. It has the last thing my Mom wrote to me in a letter on it, who passed away.Quote:

So sorry for your loss and yes.....dry cured cigars are a different breed of cigars as they are unlike the standard vitola, dry-cured cigars go through a special manufacturing process of slow- baking, like cigarillos where the RH comes out after lighting them up and smoking. You have a different angle on this as it means something more than just a "dry cured cigar"..,,,a memento and rememberance of sorts and I'd put that away and make a special place for it to keep,,,,that is where the importance lies.
