2007 Saint Luis Rey Reserva Especial Corona

A 5.25x44 corona, with a tan, Colorado maduro, fine, smooth textured wrapper and a smooth cap and firm bunch.

An even burn after 1 correction early on, short, conical coal, light grey typical ash and a perfect draw with excellent smoke volume and faint, brief, subtle aroma.

Of medium richness, body and flavor, mild-medium strength and a perfect balance of grassy and woody flavors.

No sweetness, burn on the tongue, sharpness or saltiness and a very light bitterness.

Overall a great cigar with a final score of 90 out of 100

I friggin' LOVE cigars

While still decent cigars, I believe they have lost the edge that made them desirable in the early 2000s. I remember these being more medium to full when they were new. In the past, there were certain times when I just craved a Honduran cigar. At the time Honduran cigars were quite strong and had a distinct flavor profile. St Luis Rey and Havache were the two Honduran treats I kept on hand in quantity. Came back to add....my favorite Honduran puro was Don Melo. I completely forgot about them.

Definitely not surprised they have mellowed over time and lost strength if you say they were originally more medium-full or more.

This seems to be the case with every aged Cigar i have had.
