Viaje Exclusivo Lancero

Here we go, rounding out the Viaje Reviews I had lined up and finishing strong with the Exclusivo Lancero!

One thing that has been consistent with all the Viaje cigars I have smoked is their construction has been near flawless. The Exclusivo series always has a nice oily wrapper as well!



Within the first few puffs of the cigar I am greeted with a nice spice, a spice I have come to love from Viaje. Just about every Viaje I have smoked starts like this, a nice spice, nothing overpowering, a mellow spice if you will. Burn starts off well, and stays just about perfect throughout...one of the many upsides of a lancero :)



Ahhhh the first third of the Exclusivo Lancero and here is the leather. Since I started smoking I have always loved cigars that bring out a nice leather flavor from the get go, I feel it pairs well with many of the different flavors one would find in a cigar. Throughout the first third the spice fades in the distance and the leather has completely taken over.



As we make our way through the second third of this great looking Lancero, the spice is all but gone. The leather is sticking around and a nice chocolate flavor is rounding the second third out. Not much else is happening in the second third but that is not necessarily a bad thing, it's a nice consistent flavor that I personally welcome, I mean what kid does not have memories of chewing on his baseball glove and sneaking a few chocolates in when no one is looking :)



Getting into the final third, the same two flavors seem to be sticking around till the end. The chocolate flavors have subsided slightly but the leather is standing tall. The leather flavors I am picking up from this cigar are absolutely wonderful and I am not looking forward to putting this baby down. Not much changes at all as we work down to the nub, but I am not complaining.


And onto the nub we go, if you enjoy this Vitola and a nice leather flavor profile in your cigar this is one to definitely be on the lookout for. The downside is that it's a Viaje and we all know by now everything they release is Limited and many times they come around once and then they are gone, let's see what the outcome is on this one. Definitely worth picking a few up if you stumble upon them!
