...What makes a pipe a "good smoker"?
To me, on the most basic level a pipe must:
Not be prone to gurgling (not a big issue because I dry my leaf)
Pass a pipe cleaner easily
Have a nice, open draw
Not burn my palm when I hold it by the bowl

To me, personally, the wide open draw is the most important piece of the puzzle. A restrictive draw is just no fun.
And if the draw isn't open enough, my 5/32 drill bit helps fix everything as well :D
I'm going to sound like an echo here, but far and away the most important thing is a smooth, open draw. Nothing kills the enjoyment of smoking a pipe quicker than a restrictive draw.
