I have to go Velvet, as I haven't tried those two.....
Tried almost all of them in a trade once upon a time. Between CA and PA I prefer PA, but SWR is my preferred codger blend.
Last time I tried them I liked CH better, but tastes evolve and its been a while. Might have to have a bowl of each tonight to see.
Just finished a bowl of CH and now onto a bowl of PA. PA is better than I remember it, enough to say I'm not sure which I like better. Actually rather enjoying both.
CH trumps all other OTCs for me. I do enjoy PA and SWR though. They're both tied for 2nd place.
Prince Hall definitely. But Carter Albert is a close second.
Well like Blake said, tastes evolve and change so I wasn't sure which I liked more.
Today I had to run to a local grocery store and grab something and while I was there I noticed that they carried both brands and I thought of this thread. I grabbed one of each (I have some CH but have no idea of its age so I wanted to smoke both fresh to make a decision).
So I got home and loaded up a cob with each and lit them both. I went back and forth having a few puffs of one, then a few puffs from the other.
They tasted very similar overall, which is not surprising as both are Middleton burleys. The main difference was that the CH had slightly sweeter pouch note and it did translate into the taste as well.
I'm a fan of sweeter tobaccos so if I had to vote at this time, I would say Carter Hall is my pick of the two.
Even so, if I am in the mood for a burley blend, either would do the trick nicely.
