Lighter won't light

I've had this Lotus lighter for a while now, and have been slowly having troubles getting it to light. Started a while back having to click a few times to get flame, to now in 15 minutes I'm lucky to get any flame. Adjusting from extremes on the flame height makes no difference. There is spark when I click it and you can hear the gas flowing through. Xikar fluid. Tried purging and refilling a few times to clear air or bad fluid.

Anything I can do to this thing that might get it going again? I have a couple other lighters that work but love the built in punch on the bottom so would like to get it running again. Thoughts?

Got any compressed air and blow out the burner?

Also when purging the fuel are you making sure its completely empty no air or anything

Tried cleaning the burner out with compressed air. Didn't seem to help.

I just went through another purge and it did seem to help some, seems like maybe I wasn't purging quite enough. Managed to get fairly consistent light after refueling (light on 2 or 3 clicks, much better than before). Going to let it sit for a bit to cool down and try it again.

After cooling it's right back to where I was to begin with. lucky to get 1-2 lights per 20 strikes

Scenario 1) Is the flame really low? Even when adjusted to the max? If so it's toast. Throw it away. There's a porous, plastic thing inside that functions as an orifice and filter for the butane. Eventually it plugs from filtering out impurities in the gas. All the purge stuff is nonsense, doesn't do a bit of good. Your only hope is to partly disassemble it and move the flow adjustment stop so that it allows you to adjust the flame higher. Not a fix but a bandaid that may buy you a little more life. To see if this is the problem, push the buttonn down and light your lighter with a match or another lighter. Tiny flame at max adjustment means plugged orifice filter thingy.

Scenario 2) The sparker isn't aligned right and it's sparking in a place in the air/fuel plume where there's either all fuel or all air. I had a cheap Ronson that did this. If you're lucky you'll be abke to bend the electrode around a little to some place where it's more in the air/fuel mix. Totally trial and error because you have no way of knowing the optimal position.

Are you making sure the lighter is warm enough? Butane lighters don't like to fire up or stay lit when they get too cold. Put it in your back pocket and sit on it for a little while, then try it.

Perhaps it is a defect on the build. Have you considered a warranty repair?

I looked up the product's manufacturer and found that it has a lifetime warrany and repair services.

This is probably the most definitive checklist to go through,,,,,I have about 25 lighters because I love lighters and have torn thru them for one reason or another to keep them working. Most times it's just a refilling issue.....butane does not work well when mixed with air inside the chamber and it just won't hardly burn or work.,,,it may sputter now and then but we're not going to deal with that nonsense. Purging does help the process and one needs to completely PURGE the contents of the chamber.,,,that means ALL OF IT! It may require you to keep purging at least 3 times and you'll know when it's empty because the hissing is gone. Now it's time to refill which means you turn down the adjustment to LOW so that when you refill there isn't any blockage and the butane has a free flow action to get inside the chamber.....and that means practicing how you refill. Place your lighter 90 degrees and put your can directly on top.,,,,that means nothing more than a 90 degree angle or you will get the "dreaded overspray" which means you just screwed up and let air and butane into the chamber. It should be noted that ANY overspray will compromise the refill and you'll have to start over....I know, it sucks but if you want to refill correctly you'll have to practice practice practice this until you get it right or you will be one frustrated dude trying to get these damn things to burn correctly.

Yes, sometimes there are mechanical issues like what was said above,,,,,fuel lines blocked, misalignment, bad fuel to begin with.....etc. IN 20 years I've only had 3 lighters that just wouldn't work and even then I dismantled the little fkrs and fixed them but if you have a lifetime warranty..,,,,use it instead of trying to fixing a tempermental lighter...I'm one of those who like a challenge so unless you can't deal with a POS lighters.....chuck it and get another one.

I've had a couple of Ronsons that finally quit sparking altogether - like the piezo unit wore out or broke or went on permanent vacation

So you're saying to hold the lighter sideways when refilling it?!
I always thought/heard to turn the lighter upside down.
