Ashtray gets full and youre too lazy to empty it

You sit in your normal smoking area and notice that you have a decent pile of cigars in the tray with one sitting precariously on another and is about to tip over. The OCD in you says that the ashtray should be empty and shiny clean. But, the lazy ass that you are says 'oh that's alot of effort besides i'm sitting here comfortably and I just lit my cigar. If I'm not cradling this cylindrical piece of art it will go out.'

You have two choices. Do you sit there and let your ash fall, likely, on your lap and add to this large-ish pile? Or do you empty and clean your ashtray while your cigar sits lonely on the edge of the table?

I was shocked to discover my tray posessing nothing but ash. The missus decided to remove my dead stick buds but left the ash cylinders. I thought the neighbor kid stole them again (not like i care that he does, but i'm aware of it) but she said it was her. Naturally, I was bugged that she removed the cigars but not the ash. Why the hell not?!?!?!?! Oh, the stresses in life, right?

Yes, I'm the guy who's too lazy to clean the ashtray on a timely basis with a pile of various brands of cigars. Cigar bands are slipped beneath the ashtray and celophane wraps sit wrinkled on the table.

Which guy are you? Go!

Well if I did actually have an ash tray, I would walk, cigar in hand, over to the wood stove and hurl the contents of said ash tray into said stove where they could mingle with rest of the ashes in there. That's where I usually dispose of cigar buts as well as the ashes and dottle left in my pipe. I don't like ash trays though, and I don't own one.

I'm the OCD guy that either empties the ashtray when I'm done smoking or before I start.

I leave my ashtray outside on the patio table and leave the cigars butts in the ashtray until we get a good rain or two. Once the cigars have swollen up and look like big dog turds I go over to my next door neighbors and scatter them around his front yard. He's a Red Sox fan!

Usually around every 3-4 stogies I'll dump the tray. Just looks crappy sitting full on my back deck.

Dump after every one, but then again I only use a small ashtray and it wouldn't handle more than 1 butt

So I can get away with it for a while... that is until the lid won't sit on top level and there's a couple nubs occupying the top.

I am the guy who dumps the ash tray into the bucket next to in on the table. Ash tray is clear and I can keep smoking. Once in a great while I will rinse the ash tray.

On the front porch I have a small single stick ash tray. I will flip the accumulated ashes from what I am smoking at the time into the garden, then when I'm done with the stick I put the butt into a small trash can with a lid I keep on the porch. When the can gets full, I empty it into the trash.
On the back patio, I do same with the ashes out onto the lawn, then put the finished butt into the side fire box of my grill/smoker and burn it up next time I'm getting charcoal ready for grilling.

I dump the ashtray into a medium-sized flower pot.

When the flower pot begins approaching full, then I empty it to the trash.

I am fortunate to have an indoor place to smoke, The ashtray is on one side of the chair, the trash can on the other. I literally have to pick up the ashtray, put it in my other hand, and dump it into the trash. Don't have to leave the chair. With that said, I fit into the lazy category because at times there are three or four butts in the tray.

Most of my smoking is on my back deck / around the yard. Not afraid to just ash on the deck. Butt gets tossed in the bushes. I do use my concrete ashtray in my quiet times sitting in my chair on the deck smoking sessions. I try to empty every night into a small steel trash can with lid before I go in. If I don’t and it rains, it makes a mess of my ashtray. Wet ash can become hardened and difficult to clean out. In fact, I’ve used a paste made of ash to repair a hole in the bottom of a pipe. After I empty the ashtray, I turn it upside down so it doesn’t fill with water in case of rain.

I'm a patio smoker so I tend to ash off the 4 decks and throw the butts into the Pine trees where I live.....I think it makes them grow and nourishes them....or so I'd like to believe.

I just collect 2 to 4 cigars worth of ash then dump it in the garden next to the hot peppers. Then I leave the ashtray on the patio for mother nature to clean.
