My cabinet humidor

My cabinet humidor I have mentioned before that was an old China cabinet I converted into a great humidor. Humidor top portion is probably 6ft x 6ft.

Caulked all seems from the inside, put a weather strip on the doors, lined with Spanish cedar, used an Oasis electronic humidifier, if I remember correctly about which brand, and added a circulation fan on every shelf (large computer fans I had actually)

Total cost was under $200 for sure. Only paid $50 for the cabinet and only the Spanish cedar and humidifier cost much.

Worked great and held a lot of cigars, plus I think it looked pretty nice in my house too

Really wish I could have it here. Unfortunately it will be sold or trashed this spring when I clear out my storage unit completely as my sister has been paying for it and there's really no need, especially since its 6 hours away.

Only keeping a select few things and everything else will be auctioned off or trashed.

Sad to see it go as I think it looked pretty classy, inspite of probably being from the 70's

The big drawers and cabinets on each end, in the base were great for cigar related stuff storage

Very nice, if it gets sold hope someone will recognize it and use it for what you converted for.

Would hate to see it go to waste after all the work plus how well it turned out.

I just dont have the space for anything other than 2 74qt tupperdors in my room really. The rooms here at the veterans home aren't terribly big (although honestly they aren't bad, definitely bigger than hospital rooms, but not by a lot) and we can't have anything within about 6' of our beds all the way around, in case a stretcher has to be brought in.

Really not supposed to store anything on the floor, so I had to get permission for my shipping supplies and 2 tupperdors against the only open wall.

Might be able to pull it off though if I can find something that isnt wider than about 24" and longer than about 5' or a little bigger. I've seen curio/china cabinets around roughly that size, so it's a possibility that I hadn't really considered until you mentioned it.

Will see if we have a used furniture store in town here as it would be way cheaper than something new, plus i know a few people with trucks to haul it vs paying through the nose for shipping.

Used furniture store is where I got the one pictured. They tagged it at $100, but I talked them into taking $50 cash, as I suspect it had been there quite a while and demand for something like that was likely fairly low .

Would definitely love to have another nice, wood, glass front cabinet again.
I consider cigars to be a classy item and feel they deserve a classy storage unit, and plastic containers definitely aren't classy, just work insanely well and are cheap.

Plus I enjoyed doing the conversion, and it was a cheap and easy way to get a nice looking, huge, cabinet humidor.

If you are wanting a nice looking cabinet humidor but can't or won't shell out for a pre-made ones, then I highly recommend a conversation/build like this.

No skills required and can be done so incredibly much cheaper than a comparable pre-made one, and everything needed is easily found on the internet.

Wish I had a pic from when it was completely full of boxes of cigars and had empty cc boxes and framed pictures of me and Carlito Fuente and me and a Playboy bunny, on top for decoration.

Looked much nicer full than nearly empty like in the pic.
Must be from shortly after I finished it and started slowly filling it.

I guess those pics, plus lots of others never got uploaded to photobucket and were lost when my pc hard drive died, followed shortly by my back up drive, many years ago.

Was happy to rediscover the roughly 200 on photobucket though. Many nice ones I thought were lost forever were there, especially my pics from the navy and me and Carlito and me and the bunny, which I thought were long lost, so can't complain

It was just regular, clear, common silicone caulk.

There was a mild odor from it initially, but a few days after it was set and with the door open, the smell went away permanently. Always smelled strongly of tobacco only after that.

Found a pretty nice one on Ebay for a decent price that I could probably fit into my room.

Shipping from Oregon concerns me price-wise though.

I commend you on the gorgeous cabinet... I am envious! Yes, I have a great standing humidor that I am quite proud of, and no, I would not have the room for that sort of cabinet... but any cigar lover with the right setup would love to have it! You should put it on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace and see who bites!
