Up until a few weeks back I didn't know that one could buy cigars on EBay. I actually didn't believe it until I saw the auctions myself. I think it's hilarious that EBay lets sellers get away with such a transparent ruse. So who's done it?

No. Just no. Tobacco is verboten there and auctions are for the "collectible packaging" only, which just might be all you get. Or you might get fakes, or dried out fakes, or who the hell knows...
There are lots of places and ways to get legit stuff, and I would not gamble my way too hard earned money on an unknown quantity. Maybe the trader feedback is good, but still....

I used to purchase any glasstop cohiba box variant that I didn't have. At one time I had a dozen different boxes. I still have a few of the better ones.
After some of the ridiculous prices I've seen some of the HTF sticks go for on CBid I guess it shouldn't surprise me that people will buy them as "collectibles" on EBay.

Not a friggin chance. Ebay and craigslist are two places I won't buy cigars. You just don't know what they are, what you're getting, or what kind of shape they're in.
I have had some good luck with getting some decent deals on cigars off ebay. my .02. For sure have to check everything out first though.
Not true, the collectability of the cigar packaging or any item for that matter is greatly impacted of everything is not intact/sealed. If you buy something that is sold as intact/sealed and it is not ebay will refund it.Quote:

Of course if you put in the auction description an empty resealed box then tour right and there's nothing to resolve. However if you put new sealed box on the description like many do and everything is not intact then that is an obvious case of fraud, and will be resolved easily.
The tobacco ebay policy exist for selling tobacco as a way they can get the fee and get around people not having tobacco licensees. In your example it wouldn't even apply because your not selling tobacco. Try to understand that although your selling the packing if you advertise it as intact or new it has to be so or it is fraud.
I whole heartedly disagree, the way that 90% of them are listed you will have no recourse. What if the cigars are all dried out and unsmokable? Again zero recourse because you didn't buy cigars you bought the packaging.... By all means, buy all the cigars on ebay you want, I will be waiting for your thread "How I got F*@&ED on Ebay". I have bought and sold many things on ebay, have been through plenty of disputes, won some and lost some.Quote:

As a seller you need to be super clear and concise on your descriptions or very crafty so you won't lose any disputes. I haven't lost any as a seller, but have lost them as a buyer because of wording in the descriptions, what I perceived it to say vs what it actually said.Quote:

I just bought 4 Florida Queens (c. 1946) from Gotham museum. They are such smooth wonderful smokes that I really don't want anyof you louts buying them. Cost me $40 and they are such a treat!
I have bought cigars off there with no issues. I do not buy from anyone without some history and dang near 100% positive feedback. Occasionally you will find some good deals but mostly it is price gougers. I would prefer to buy from a brother on a forum or that I have a friendship with but temptation has lead me to buy there a few times.

With that being said, I would never bid on cigars on eBay. That is trouble IMO.
If you are going bid on cigars, play it safe and stick with the three major tobacco players most of us know. I have never had a problem with any of them. If I win a product that is not what I expected, they all have always honored my request for an exchange or credit.
