I really have no interest in these but some do enjoy them. Talking about the new Asylums coming out in 80rg at eight inches long. I prefer smaller rings say robusto or lance. These seem like a novelty to me but they're on the way.

I think it is more of an adventure in the novelty of cigar smoking aimed at the masses and not so much the hobbiest. I imagine if you walked into a frat party a guy may see a bunch of 20 year olds walking around with one hanging outta their mouth. Lol
I'm with you Alan. For me most of mine are gonna be 52-54 rg and smaller. I have just started my adventure into the Lancero so I can't comment on that yet but it seems to me most of the smaller rg is where the majority of the hobby guys tend to gravitate towards.
I figure the makers have to experiment and see how large of an rg the market can/will support. I can tell you the large bores won't be on my radar.

It's funny, my first cigar order I thought, hey I'll get more for my money if I get the biggest sticks I can find. Only to find out, while I enjoy a good cigar, I don't have the time or desire to sit for couple hours enjoying 1 stick. I've been really enjoying the corona or robusto sizes myself as opposed to the larger/longer sticks I've tried and even those I rarely nub. Not to say if someone was giving them out I wouldn't take one and give it a go though.

I enjoy a 60rg. Watching a 2 hour movie with a cigar that's with me from beginning to end is an experience I wholeheartedly enjoy. I have even ventured into the realm of the Flathead 7x70 and the RP Edge Howitzer of that same 70rg size, but it is a bit much.
80rg... I'm checking out on this one.
Sounds like another to add to my list. I already have the 6x80, whats another two inches.

I like the occasional 60 RG stick, I have a few in my humidor but I find myself gravitating to Toros and even Corona Gordos as well as robustos more lately.
I wont smoke anything over 54 RG unless its some sort of figurado or box pressed. The only time it bothers me is when all the vitolas in a line are jaw breakers. That just makes me pass on them altogether. I dont understand it but then again I don't have to, smoke what you like.
I used to like the big sticks but find myself enjoying smaller RG more and more. 58 is as big as I will ever go and even then I find that way too much to really enjoy. I guess as I dig deeper into the world of CC's I am appreciating the small ones now. funny how one's tastes change constantly in this hobby/obsession. an 80 just seems ridiculous to me at this stage

I tried a 60 rg once. It was ok, but just not comfortable to smoke. I have preferred robusto size from the start of my cigar ventures, and am now enjoying even smaller rg's. PC seems to be a very enjoyable smoke these days.
80 rg is just too much IMHO. I tend to stay under 60 and have really been enjoying small rg sticks lately. I just wish the local shops agreed with me and carried more coronas and lanceros, slim pickings locally.
I'm sure it'd be a novelty to smoke something that you could use to clobber an intruder with at the same time, but my jaw couldn't agree. 60 is about as high as I can go and that's rare. Give me that sweet 40-44 range.
Exactly. This is my third foray into cigars in my life. The last time, about the biggest I can recall were 48-50 on some Churchills. I don't recall the robusto being around much 20+ years ago. But then again, I am MUCH, much better informed with the help of the internet in this era. Anyhoo, still preferring panatella, lance, petite corona, corona and londsdale when I have a choice in the matter.Quote:
