Just curious. Are any of you coming to the IPCPR in NOLA this year?
Industry only, sadly.
Work hasn't asked me to yet and I am hoping it stays that way!
This is one of those shows I would very much love to go to. However; even if I were working in the industry I am not very good at playing politics so I would likely be overlooked for being so blunt.
Unfortunately, I'll be missing it this year. Too many more important issues to deal with. Hopefully I'll be back next year. Its a fun show to work.
Question for all who have attended - are there many events that happen in the city outside of the convention centers tied to this that a regular DogRockets could attend? I know I can't get in the event itself but am wondering if there are anciliary items that happen that would be fun to attend.
Just be aware that New Orleans has a public smoking ban. Yeah, IPCPR in a city with a smoking ban. Any wonder the next three are going to be in Las Vegas?
Well I live here so I would love to attend any events available to the public. Don Leoncio place is great, very friendly staff and you can sit and play domino's watching the tourists on Canal. Keep us updated, maybe there is some herfing potential!
Cigar shops/lounges aren't affected by this ban which has been nice. Besides that I rarely have trouble finding places with patios to smoke outside. I can only think of one bar I frequented to smoke cigars where I now can't as they don't have a patio, but New Orleans Cigar Factor is a block away so I could always go there if I was craving one.
So is anyone coming to New Orleans?
Having been to a couple of IPCPR shows in the past, I can tell you that there's really nothing for the public. There was an idea floated a year or two back to have a public component to the show and it was roundly defeated by the membership. Remember, the purpose of the event is for brands to showcase their wares for retailers. It's nothing like a Big Smoke, Great Smoke or CigarFest.
Seeing some pictures coming from the event, I'm jealous, would love to get to stroll around the convention center! Did anyone end up saying if there were events us peasants could attend associated with the event? I live here so I'm around all week!
