Do you keep your tins?

Just wondering what you guys do with your tins.

Keep em for something?
Toss em?

If you do keep them, what do you use them for?

I was transferring some Nightcap and some My Mixture 965 to jars tonight and debated whether to toss the tins in the closet with the rest of them or toss them in the trash.

How bout it?

I keep a few around for screws, q-tips and such.
I tend to be a hoarder, but ya can only keep so many. :rolleyes:

I have a few laying around. Less than 10, I'd say.

I will say the H&H tins are larger than most. They will hold more things if you're into using them for storage.

I handload ammo and a H&H tin will hold quite a few 9mm rounds. About 75 or so IIRC. And they stack well.

Of course the Dunhill tins and those of similar size wouldn't be as good for that.

The 50 gram tins are used for little travel pill tins.

Been wanting to try and make a single fire starter out of the round, MacBaren, 100 gram tins. Cut up some corrugated cardboard to just under the height of the tin and add melted bees wax. Haven't gotten that far, yet.

Another one holds dryer lint with a light coating of Vaseline, used for pull apart fire tinder / starter.

Some have been used for small gift wrapping. Others hold various numismatics.

You could probably also use them to make charcloth. Maybe have to burn off any rubber seal first.

The vintage and otherwise cool looking ones sell on ebay and etsy. I've got a set of old tins on ebay right now, and am about to put a couple more up.

I use them as targets for blackpowder shooting.

If you can hit a tin from 50-70 meters using ball-and-patch, yer ready for elk or deer.

Never thought about using them for targets. That's a good ideal.
I wonder what would happen if you mixed up some tannerite and filled one with it. :)

That's a great idea! Mrs. Bruck hates it when I use the dinner plates for black powder targets :)

That is very cool.

You can pick up the kits at hobby lobby and i get a small easel there as well to set them on when finished.
