Haven't tried McC blending tobaccos, but my experience in general is the opposite. I have liked McC blends I've tried, and they are quality, but something about them, perhaps the PG content in their bulks, irritate my mouth. C&D don't do that, although they can be a little bit "rough" sort of like a cigar can be due to a lack of additives.
If you ever want to trade C&D blends for McC, I've got a pound of McClelland I won't be smoking =)
As for the C&D blending baccy, I have had the ribbon cut burley, virginia flake (closer to a cube cut than a flake), ribbon cut perique, and latakia. all have been quality, but my skill in blending is pretty poor!
