I don't think the latch has much to do with the actual seal, other than keeping the two halves pinned to one another. As long as it latches shut, I think you'll be okay.

yeah they slide on and off and the dovetail it slides onto on the actual humidor busted off so i got some small machine screws and screwed the latches in place and now the actual latches are busting themselves... no where near where i crewed into but the actual bottom part of the latch
