My first humidor was a wooden desk top. Since then I have run multiple desktops several tupperdors. My suggestion is run what works for you.
That being said keeping up with multiple humidors is near maddening. I run 2 right now but 1 is an end table that I need help to close the door, and my first humidor. Some run a dry box humidor for cigars they are gonna smoke in the next few days. Other than that get a humidor big enough to hold all your cigars to make it easier to keep up with. Sometimes checking craigslist or Facebook marketplace is a good way to upgrade to a larger humidor.
