Bummin' Around
I've been using Ronsons for a while. I like them when they work but sometimes they just don't...so I normally bring three with me.
I've gotten kind of tired of that so I recently bought a Xikar Tech lighter off Amazon for $20 new. Great deal, $10 off MSRP and came in a sealed package. It feels like much better quality than the Ronsons and holds twice as much fluid(if not more), plus you can see the fluid level.

I support the Ronson camp as well. I use the Comet for a soft flame and the jetlite if I need a torch.

XiKar is nice with lifetime warranty and I have one that I love, however you really can't beat a Ronson for the $$. I have several Ronson's.

I use a Bugatti CEO triple flame. It's got a built in punch. $26 on eBay. Works good, but have to refill after two, maybe three sticks if I'm lucky.

Ronson jetlite is hard to beat. Around three bucks.

I have had many lighters... I still have many lighters lol, but I just bought an Xikar Allume all the same:
Screen Shot 2015-02-16 at 9.59.23 AM.jpg
Why:
- It's small - so I'll keep it on me. Just a bit smaller than a Zippo. So it'll fit in the pocket watch pocket in my jeans.
- When you put it in your pocket upside down, it deactivates.
- That guarantee. There is nothing worse than spending big bucks and then having to pay to fix it. Arg
- It was relatively cheap. $40.00: http://www.elighters.com/lighters-xi...-lighters.html
- it doesn't have a lid to get in the way.
I am hoping I like it. I like single flames. Triples and doubles are great - but the single touches up well and lends itself to smaller lighters for edc carry.
Good Luck.
I'll let you know what I think when I get it.

If you are looking for a good quality lighter for a pretty low price I would steer you towards the Vertigo, by Lotus brand. Vertigo is their lower-end brand, but they offer a lifetime warranty on them. I have a Vertigo Bullet that I have been using for years and never hard a problem with. Big adjustment wheel, double flame, punch cutter...

I use two Colibris - a Jet and a Wellington soft flame. I spent $30 on the the Jet before I discovered Cbid, and then $16 on the Wellington. Both work well for what I need. I'd like to get a couple of nicer lighters, but these have worked great for me. Like everyone here said, Ronsons are great and cheap, I used to have one, but I forgot I had it in my bag at an airport security line, and had to pitch it. Xikar's are great for the warranty, that's probably my next lighter.

I won't claim that it's the best lighter made, but I happen to like the dual-flame Vertigo Trek, $16.95 at Mike's Cigars (www.mikescigars.com) and probably available several other places. It isn't the classiest lighter I've seen or owned (it looks a bit like a flattened hand-grenade), but it works well and -- unlike some of my previous lighters -- it resists over-filling gasket blowouts pretty well. I own two of them, and I'll advise buying either the chrome or gunmetal finish; my black Trek is showing some paint rub-off around the edges after just a few months of pocket-wear, while my gunmetal Trek, which I've carried for a couple of years now, still looks and works like new.
