Welcome to Cigar Bum, @DumpsterPooh . Please give us an introduction over in the New Bums section.

Lots of Bums here have electric humidors, so you should get plenty of info. Me, I'm a plastic bin with bovedas guy.

I’m assuming you’re referring to what some call a tuppidor?
I’ve seen a couple YouTube videos on Tuppidor’s. Do they work just as well as a humidor? Other than cost, what are the advantages and disadvantages of a Tuppidor?

Depending on size of your collection tupperdors are a great value for your money. Most of us has tried just about everything through the years. Most hygrometer have a temp gauge if your temps stay under low 70s (mine will start to cool around 73-74) then you don't need electricity for cooling. A bit above that should be ok we each have our own set limits.

If you dont need electric for cooling then we need to explore how large you want to go. I will admit when you have multiple humidors it is a pain to keep them all properly maintained even when using beads or boveda. I used a combination of the two. So to keep track of temp and humidity you may want something that you don't have to open to see what the humidity is. I use a xikar purotemp it can have 3 different wireless probes to read temp and humidity. I know someone reviewed govee Bluetooth hydrometer on her a while back those could be useful.

Depending on size tupperdors are hard to beat you can get some about file box size with a rubber seal around the lid at Walmart or target and some boveda for 500 cigars may need 2. I would say biggest disadvantage to a tupperdors
is playing tetris with them. When fool you have to go in find your stick then restack it.

Or find a non cooling wine fridge and use that and have them all I'm 1 place if you can find 1 big enough. If you go wine fridge you can consider electronic humidification.

Most cigar smokers I know will pick function over looks but it depends on what you want and need.

If you want plug-and-play, the Redford Lite you mentioned is solid, and Raching units are great too, both handle temp/RH really well in dry climates like CO. There’s a good breakdown of these and a few other options here.

If you’re ok with some light setup, a used wine fridge with a Cigar Oasis Magna works just as well for less money. Whichever way you go, get a digital hygrometer you can check without opening the door, saves a lot of hassle.

    Thanks for the warm welcome!

I’m a longtime cigar aficionado who eventually turned my passion into a business. These days, I run Your Elegant Bar, where I share tips, reviews, and resources for fellow enthusiasts. Everything from storage and humidors to enjoying a great smoke.

I’ve been lucky enough to turn years of smoking experience into helping others get the most out of their cigars, and I’m looking forward to learning from everyone here too. Always happy to talk cigars, swap stories, or geek out over gear.

You're very welcome and glad to have you aboard. Feel free to jump right in with sharing. The forum is mostly active with what we're currently smoking, but please share and post in any if the topics threads, or create a new discussion. I will have to double check the rules and check with @Nature (our Admin) about promoting your business publicly, so please PM us prior to doing that.
