I'm not sure exactly but since he uses morning urine I think the theory is that it's somewhat acidic and sterile which helps remove impurities and bacteria from the container.

Keep in mind this is also a guy who drinks pig's blood from the asian market for rehydration on the tennis court. His theory is that its "osmotic gradient" is similar to human blood so it gets absorbed faster than water or gatorade. Whether or not that's true, it does tend to disturb his opponent.
