Arturo Fuente questions

Okay, I'm pretty well versed on most of the major brands of cigars but AF is the one that I am not so much. I have mostly had their what I call standard or affordable line. I have also had a couple of Anejo's but recently have become very curious about the OpusX, Angels share, and Destino al Siglo lines of cigars. I dont know much about them and they are all very pricey which makes me hesitant to purchase because of that. Not to mention some confusion as I have seen opusx lost city, forbidden x, and others and I dont know the difference. I was wondering what opinion you bums may have on those cigars and if you think any of them are worth the prices they garner.

I think the MSRP on Opus is in line with most premium tobacco. The Fuente Fuentes can be had for $12. Theyre actually one of the few manufacturers that prices controls their product to keep retailers from playing mark up games. Its also why you never get "points" rewards at retailers that offer these sorts of incentives.

They all employ premium Dominican tobacco grown at Chateau De La Fuente. The blends of the cigars you mentioned are all different, Destino is branding that commemorated the 100 year anni. In order of increasing strength and body I would say the scale might look something like:

Don Arturo Gran Anni
Lost City
Casa Fuente
OpusX
ForbiddenX
ForbiddenX Maduro

You also have all the Prometheus cigars, Hemingway, Don Carlos and odd OpusX releases like the 13 Belicoso and Arturo Fuente '13 (white label) etc. There is a lot to explore and discover and every year the Fuentes offer something new to keep their rabid fans interested.

Theyre not for everyone, particularly to those who got their start smoking heavy Nicaraguans but if I were to suggest a starting point the Fuente Fuente at MSRP would be my recommendation.

Great post, thank you. I love the Anejos and Hemingways but really haven't gotten into the Opus line. Thats partially due to the price and partially because I don't know one from the next.

And to back up your recommendation, I noticed last weekend that my shop had Fuente Fuentes at I want to say $11.85 or something like that that. Not an ungodly price point at which to dabble, says I.
