Not a lance, but not too distant..My Father Cedros Deluxe Cervantes...smoking one now.
Timewise you might find a decent alternative at 6.5x44.

Smoked a CAO LX2 Lancero just a bit ago. Might just be a budding lance fan...

My sig-line says much, LOL. Probably my top-3 tasties right now would be Asylum's 99 problems, CAO's Flathead Piston, and Illsusione's HL.
Oliva V is a solid, consistent choice, and I get them from time to time. Lesser known, and lesser cost, is Estilo Cubano's lance. I am also fond of El Credito's El Perritos, and Parodi's Kentucky Cheroots.
    Lancero, or similar:

Yeas: Asylum 13, CAO Piston, Don Goyo, El Perritos, El Riqueza, Estilo Cubano, Illus HL,
Jorge Villar, Ky.Cheroots, La Musa Melete, M. Wheeling, Mexi Segundos, Nestor Miranda Spec Sel, Oliva V,
    , Tatuaje El T-Ltd & Miami 10

Mays: AF Span Lons & Curly Head Dlx, E. Hoil, KFC, L'Atelier, Patel Super Lig, Villiger

Nays: Cojimar, Fratello, Hererra Estelli, Kristoff Sumatra, LFD LG, LFD N.A.S., Oliva G, Parodi Toscano, Tatiana

Looks like we're pretty aligned. I agree with all your Yeas that I've tried - Asylum, La Riqueza, HL, Serie V, and El Triunfador.

I haven't had the lancero version of the Kristoff Sumatra, but I sure didn't like the toro/robusto size I had of that one. My Herrera Esteli petit lancero wasn't great either, nor was the Fratello corona I tried. I've still got a NAS from the original release almost 2 years ago that I haven't tried, which reminds me I need to give it a whirl.

You people are such enablers...because of all this talk, and since I hadn't tried any yet, I went ahead on stopped by Dion's shop after work Friday and grabbed a couple of Illusione HLs...a natural and a candela...after some rest we'll see if I enjoy them much or not...

Bill, I have found smoking Lance's slow makes them a much better smoke. The Holy Lance is a very good one, but I have never tried the candela. Enjoy!

I agree with Steve on this one, slow. I do prefer the Lancero version 90% of the time

To quote advice given me long ago by He-Who-Herfs-On-Turf, a lancero should always be on the verge of going out.

Nuts 'n' bolts of that is:

    1) draw less per puff than you would with a larger RG cigar. Maybe as little as half as much.
    2) draw more slowly with each puff than you would with a larger RG cigar. About as slow as you can draw without letting it go out.
    3) wait plenty of time between puffs. Go toward the long end of the 30-60 second standard.

If you get all those balanced, you'll get maximum enjoyment from your lancero. Not every cigar will stay lit well enough if you take all three steps to their maximums. IMO, they are listed in order of importance. That is, shorten the rest time a little bit before speeding up the pace of your draw, and only increase the amount of your draw as a last resort.
    Insert witty comment here ...
