Why not just order a CC sampler and try the real thing if you want to determine if it is worth sliding down the CC slope?

I plan to, but felt there was a good chance that out of the 155 different brands in my humi's already, I would have a few NC's that were a decent comparison, and could get an idea in advance of what I would be getting into. Also in case my palate was not ready yet for that profile.

It's ready, just jump in. If you can tell a good cigar from a bad one that is all you need IMHO.
To me it's like finding a Mexican wrapper that is most like a CT broadleaf. Sure there are some similar ones, but subtle differences to some are major differences to others.

Yes sir, there in lies a problem. A good 1/3 of what I have accumulated is too mild for me already. With my wife going back to school, I have put myself on a monthly "cigar budget", but it's tough being on this forum, and honoring that commitment, so I am doing the research, asking questions, etc. In 6 mos. when she is through.....I will have a pretty good idea of what to get and load up.
