Question For Those Who’ve Ever Taken a Break from Cigars - Did Your Humidor Make It Harder

    Hey guys,

I’m considering opening an electronic cigar humidors ecomm store and I want to understand the ethical side of it. The humidors I’m selling are $2000 USD - $4700 USD and stores 600 - 4000 cigars.

For anyone who’s reduced or quit cigar smoking - how did your humidor fit into that transition?
Did you sell it, keep it, or repurpose it?
Did it influence your urge to smoke at all?

My assumption is that the main clientele for high-end humidors are individuals who view cigars as a luxury collectible and a means of relaxation, rather than as a daily necessity. I also presume that most are well-informed about potential health risks and have a level of conscious control over their smoking habits that keeps it within healthy, intentional limits. I also assume if they have a collection of at least 600 cigars, they have the ability to moderate their consumption.

I’m not here to promote anything, just trying to understand whether humidors tend to create friction for people who want to step back from cigars.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

I've reduced my smoking, mainly because of time, but also when to colder weather rolls in. Right now I'm kinda in the cross section of both, though weather has been decent.

My humidors stayed the same, and I'm just not buying cigars to keep them stocked.

The urge to smoke is still there. I love cigars, but they doesn't fit in my current lifestyle as much. They'll be there when I can get to them.

I only use Tupperware-type humidors with Bovedas, and always have in past 5 years. Never had a desire to get a wooden humidors, mostly because I don't have them on display due to the kids.

I could repurpose these easily. If I had a $5k humidor, I'm not sure what I'd do- sell it, leave as is- but I wouldn't repurpose it.

I would say that it probably wouldn't influence one's smoking if one was spending that kind of coin on a humidor to begin with.
Most cigar guys would say don't spend your money on a fancy humidor - spend it on cigars.
Alot of us use tuppers, coolers, and in my case wine coolers made into humidors commonly called "wineadors", because they are less costly and easy to maintain.
If you have that kind of money - you wouldn't have to worry about it. And if you chose to - it could easy be resold on the secondary market - happens all the time with big cabinets.
    My 2 cents
No cigar until you get a par - birdie if it's a scramble !

No body likes a quitter.... The only experience I had with people leaving the hobby personally the guy split up what was left between his buddies who would enjoy and appreciate them. His storage never came into the conversation. I would assume like many hobbies most people don't give much thought to it. When your done your done.

Not many people have the need for the larger humidors. That's how I got mine!
