I've had some "basket pipes" that were simply poorly engineered POS. I'm not a snob by any means and have a number of "drugstore" pipes in my regular rotation, but if it isn't drilled halfway correctly, if the stem doesn't take a cleaner properly, and if the briar is too thin or total crap quality, the pipe is just a dud. Take it out back, shoot it, and move on
