This is another of my favorite L'amour novels.

These were some of my favorite books as a kid, just thought of them while scanning my mind for some good literature. I'd suggest them if you have kids (I don't).
Dammit, now I just went and bought these up on ebay so I'd have them again...

And for my last book recommendation we'll go with a classic. I can't imagine someone not loving Mark Twain.

Not sure about just reading this, but if you have the time and the inclination, I thought the class on it was pretty amazing.

Thanks to Tobias and bull for the contest!
If you all couldn't tell by my posts, I have a young child and not much time for reading books of my own choice (or maybe I enjoy and prefer Dr Suess, you be the judge)!
Charles Marlow's first appearance was in my favorite Conrad story: Youth. The description of pumping water into the ship to put out the coal/cargo fire, which of course makes the ship founder, is one of the most harrowing descriptions of peril I have ever read. Good choice, C-man.
Thank you @Tobias Lutz and @Bull . I have really enjoyed the contests. :pipe:
Well...we have winners GALORE!
The random draw for the seven tins is @fastnbulbous !!!!
We also had FOUR guys guess within 25 books of my actual count 1246. Keep in mind that I bought another ~50 books since the contest started, but to be fair, I stuck with the number counted on day one :)
These winners are:
@NarJar (1234)
@c.ortiz108 (1242)
@mooster (1238)
@Cool Breeze (1225)
I need everyone to PM me your addresses, and I'll have all the prizes airborne by Monday!
Thanks for playing; this was my favorite of the three and you recommended some great stuff (and reminded me of some great books I hadn't thought of in a long time) :pipe:
WooHoo!!!!!!!!!
Thanks a ton for the contest Tobias and Bull. You guys are awesome.
Congrats Gentlemen !
Thanks again,,,,,:pipe:
I'll be damned. But if you're into "New Wave" SF at all read the book! :D
Congrats to all and thanks again for the contest
Congrats to all the winners and thanks again for the great contest. Now to see if I can track down some of the books that looked interesting.
Awesome man!! Good Old Random Number Generator!
I did not contribute much to the first 2 contests, but this one was up my alley.
I really really enjoyed it. And with a bonus.
WooHoo!!
Yaaaaayyy! Thanks for the fun contest! Really enjoyed it, aside from winning a prize. Some great reminders of stuff I've wanted to read but haven't. Funny thing is, the way I came up with that particular number was to roughly count my own books. Here's one wall

So little time, so many books (and pipes and cigars and single malt Scotches....).

@mooster
@Cool Breeze
Congrats gents!!!!
And thanks @Tobias Lutz and @Bull for the excellent contests! :pipe:
Congrats to all the winners. This was big fun.
Congrats to all the winners! You have my jealousy!
Thank you, again, @Tobias Lutz and @Bull for the contests and sponsorship!
Got my package from Tobias today for guessing within 25 of the correct number.
One tin of Dunhill Early Morning Pipe (love it) and a coupon for a $1 pouch redeemable at your local tobacco store. I will definitely use this as well, as I like a bowl of Captain Black every now and then.
Thanks a lot @Tobias Lutz .
I also received a package from Tobias. A tin of Vauen black pepper. Honestly, I've never even heard of it! Thanks Tobias!

Must be delivery day; it was a tin of old Irish Flake for me. Yum!
