    Well it arrived today.

Still can't believe they let this gem go for only 50 bucks.
Savinelli Punto Oro. Not even the slightest sign of rim darkening. There's a little cake in the bowl but not very much at all. I doubt if 20 bowls have been smoked in this beauty.

Got some St. James Flake in it already. Bout to see how it is.

Oh brother let me tell you. It smokes like a dream.
I have some decent briars like 2 entry level Savinellis and they both smoke very good. I have a pre-Republic Peterson that smokes very nice

But this is the first higher end (to me anyway) pipe that I have had the pleasure of smoking and there is certainly a difference. Maybe I'm just as giddy as a school girl and am giving it more credit than it deserves, I dunno.

But I know I'm loving it.

It's hard to beat a Savinelli for smoking pleasure. One of my earliest pipes was a Savinelli Deluxe bulldog that smoked great but was kind of ugly with fills. Are you partial to the Dublin shape?

Oh I'm with you and for the most part, I don't care what they look like. One of my best smokers is a bent unfinished Savinelli Series III which has several fills that get more obvious all the time as it darkens. But I don't care. It smokes awesome.

And yes, I do really enjoy the dublin shape.
