Savinellis do smoke good. The first one I got from a garage sale back in the 80's was a Deluxe bulldog with some ugly fills. But it smoked better than any of the pipes I had at the time. The only one that I had a problem with was one of their "Dry System" pipes that are patterned after the Peterson System pipes. I had problems with that Sav; it didn't draw good and tended to gurgle and it wouldn't pass a pipe cleaner. I got rid of that one.

I have been hesitant to buy any of the "system" pipes. I have been on a ebay spree of late and have saw a few Peterson systems that looked very nice at decent prices.
But I'm just a little old fashioned. It seems like a perfect solution to a non-existent problem to me.
Check out my Youtube channel, Razorback Piper Guy if you like that sort of thing.

Don't like the 'system'. Can't pass a pipe cleaner no way no how, so if you get a plugged draugh hole, you're screwed. PIA to clean too; can't just run a pipe cleaner thru the stem for a quickie cleanout, no you have to take it apart every time and swab the gunk out of it. Also don't like that p-lip thing. If I ever buy a Pete, it will be one of the silver spigots with a fishtail bit and it won't be a 'system' pipe.

Well, I guess my venerable Kirsten Mariner is a "system pipe". And it's the sweetest smoking pipe I own, despite being the least expensive pipe I own.
    Cognition?
    On.
