Puffing Tordenskjold Pibtobak (Dan Tobacco) in my Ardor Rhodesian.

Dan Tobacco Tordenskjold Virginia Slices 50g | Buy Dan Tobacco Pipe Tobacco at Smokingpipes

It has the most intense flavor of any Virginia I know of. There’s a light topping, but I don’t think that’s the source of the intense flavor. Unfortunately, I don’t like that flavor.

I’ll try it again in a few days. I didn’t like Hamborger Veermaster at first either, but like it now.

Puffing Gordon Pym (Dan Tobacco) in my Kirsten Mariner. The only English mixture I like.

Then off to get two crispy shell chicken tacos at Carmen’s Mexican Food. Comes with rice+beans by default, but I always get beans+beans instead. Also has cheese, lettuce and tomato by default, but I tell ’em to skip the lettuce and tomato. Then they give me more cheese, and it gets melted into the taco. Salsa and lots of chips are provided too. So good.

Had a bowl of Germain Plum Cake late last night in the Dagner poker. A Spanish red on the side.

Puffing Tordenskjold Virginia Slices (Dan Tobacco) in my Ardor Rhodesian. Very mild, and I’m liking its intense flavor much better than my first go.

And lighting it with my week-old Jet Line Pipe Pro:

    Pipe Pro — Jetline Lighters

I think this is the best pipe lighter I’ve ever owned. Total length is 4-1/2”. No singed fingers from an adverse breeze with this baby!

Puffing Tordenskjold Virginia Slices (Dan Tobacco) again in my big Ardor Urano Rhodesian. I didn’t like this stuff the first time i smoked it, but 7 or 8 fills have quite changed my opinion.

Lots of flavor, and an interesting tin note too. Maybe fermentation? The SmokingPipes blurb says it has “a whisper of Perique”, which is certainly fermented, but maybe the Virginias are fermented too. Very mild and burns readily right out of the tin. The flakes are fragile.

Speaking of SmokingPipes and perique, I just ordered a tin of Solani 633 Virginia Flake.
They just sent me an email saying that Kendal Plug was available so, being helpless against the temptation of a quality Virginia plug, I ordered a couple boxes to squirrel away like some kind of deranged, pipe smoking pack rat. Needed a little something to boost the order to free shipping so Solani 633 it was. Updates as far as actually smoking the stuff in the weeks to come. Smoked a few bowls in 1 day and got burned out on tobacco - everything tasting the same - been giving it a rest lately. Usual pace is maybe a bowl every few days or so but what is one to do during this campfire season that is suddenly upon us?

Solani 633 Virginia flake with perique in an un-named french made Canadian.
The French make a pretty nice Canadian. Go figure.
Anyway this is good stuff. Gotta hand it to Solani on this one.

Just cracked open a tin of Fribourg and Treyer Special Brown Flake.
Never had anything of theirs before. Saw this at my local B&M and thought I'd give it a try.

Just a quick update, the F&T Special Brown Flake is fantastic.
I read that it has a rum topping, but I can barely tell.
It just tastes like a sweet Virginia to me, and it is great.
