Here a goofy question. With spring just around the corner, are there sticks that taste better outdoors than in?Or vice versa?I'm lucky in that I don't have to go outside to smoke,so I'm wondering if there is a difference in the enviroment where you smoke.
Have never noticed a difference in flavors indoors or out. However, I usually don't critically taste a new cigar at a lounge cause there are so many other variables at play with other smokers around. I will say that my wife picks up much more smoke on me when I smoke inside versus outside.
Taste is interwined in a complex manner with smell. Being outdoors brings its own scent from the environment, so yeah I could see an impact on taste as a result.
Generally, I just find having a cigar outside to be far more preferable than indoors, just because it's nice to be outside and relaxing, enjoying the day. That boosts my mood and I can see that impacting the overall experience of the cigar.
I run the problem of competeing with ciggarette smoke,my wife and I both smoke cigs so if I want a clean expierience I'ld have to go outside.I will try to "notice" any differences when it does warm up more.
Does a lighter REALLY affect the taste of my cigar? (More of a general noob question)
If we're talking butane, I'd think not really - once the cigar itself is lit enough, it will do its thing. However, depending on whether you use a single torch, soft flame, triple torch, that might impact how the cigar initially smokes/tastes until it works itself out.
Now, if we're talking a Zippo lighter or something that uses lighter fluid, then I think that can impart a flavor, at least for the first few draws.
A lot of people will tell you that it doesn't, and I used to agree with them. Until the day I tried to smoke an LFD after lighting it with a Bic. Maybe it was because I was outside and couldn't get it lit very well very quickly, but I DEFINITELY tasted the lighter fluid in that cigar. It was a terrible taste. With that said, if I were indoors and able to light it quickly, I'm not sure I would have tasted it nearly as much. Also, once it's really going, you probably won't taste it anyway.
If you use a zippo or a candle, you will get a petrol/paraffin taste permeating the whole cigar. It's nasty.
If you heat the foot too strongly or scorch the wrapper, you might notice some strong bitterness/burn taste but it will usually go away once the cigar cools a little. YMMV.
Ok, I saw this posted on puff a while back but don't remember what the answer was. What do y'all do with your Tubo's? I just picked up five (cedar lined metal tubes) and placed them in my humidor. Should I leave them in the tubes sealed? Pull the caps? Remove them completely and just keep the tubes? Or does any of it really matter?
It depends is the short answer!
The long answer is, if you are confident that you have a well seasoned humi at your ideal rh then pop the lids off and even remove the sticks to get them to you smoking sweet spot ASAP.
If you intend smoking them soon, I wouldn't bother.
When you're enjoying your favorite pre-embargo Cuban or Dark Shark and you accidently drop some ash onto your 15th Century Ming Dynasty rug, do you call your butler or your maid to clean it up? I'm not to proud to admit I've had both clean it up but I'm not sure which is more appropriate.
If you wish to be formal, I don't see how you can do anything other than having the maid clean it up while seated upon a saddle, firmly girded to the butler's back. If you're entertaining heads of state it would be appropriate to make sure she is wielding a leather riding crop as well (black if it is after Labor Day)
Do low carb diets affect nicotine tolerance?
I was going to ask the difference between a "dumb" question and a "stupid" question but I wasn't sure whether it belonged on this thread or the "Questions You Thought Too Stupid To Ask" thread....I'm so confused. :(
