INVESTMENT:

1. the investing of money or capital in order to gain profitable returns, as interest, income, or appreciation in value.

Reminds me of my wife: a small frivolous purchase was just something she bought, but a big frivolous purchase was an investment.

On the other hand, 'investing' in a Forever stem certainly raises the value of a cob pipe. Hell, your $3.50 pipe, replete with $23 Forever, stem is bound to be worth $15... But hopefully my IRA doesn't work quite that way...
