Well the search for an army mount pipe continues...

Got my order in from P&C today just to find out the Stanwell is indeed a fake army mount.
Its just a regular mortise and tenon under an 'army mount looking ferule'
This after sending an email (to no avail) prior to the order to verify that it was indeed a true army mount.
How disappointing. I'm sending this back...

Have you looked into the Peterson Irish Made Armys? I had one at one time and it was nice... Have no idea what happened to it, but it had a plain old silver cap on the briar and a tapered stem that fit quite well.

I did but the only ones I found were 'system' pipes and I didn't want one of those. Savinelli makes a few 'spigot' pipes but IDK if they're also fakes. Plus it seems they don't have a straight that I've found.

Odd, I don't remember mine being a system. The stem was normal and I'm positive a cleaner passed straight through to the bowl without catching on a second hollow area. Hmmmmpf.

If'n you don't find what you're looking for at P&C, give me a shot at pricing out a Pete for you. Offhand I don't know how badly they're discounting the things, so I may not be able to compete, but you never know!
