BOOOOO BOOOOOOO I can't BOOOOOOOO this statement enough!
Just placed an order for some tins of Bengal Flake, SG's Cabbie's Mixture, and Lakeland Dark.

Yes, from Larry the Tobacco Butcher. Good prices and he usually throws in a couple samples of other things.
I picked up cigar rolling a couple years ago - took a lesson at the Graycliff factory in Nassau (Bahamas) while on vacation there. Watched a number of videos on the subject after that. Then I picked up some leaves and started doing it. First couple dozen really sucked, but I gradually got the hang of it.
Tried some of the Louisiana this afternoon. Certainly a unique flavor - fruity/nutty, strong, a hint of cigarette tobacco flavor. Haven't decided if I like it or not yet - I was smoking outside in the wind, so that was distracting, and it had trouble staying lit. I dried it out, will try it again tomorrow.
Well I hate cilantro but I love black licorice :p. Never did like rose scent, I always thought it smelled like old ladies. Lakeland only tastes like soap to me when it's combined with latakia: isn't that strange? No latakia and it just tastes like perfume.

Had some more this p.m. after letting it dry out some. Not bad, still needed to be re-lit frequently. I didn't detect any kind of floral or perfume flavor. I'm not sure what the Lakeland taste is. Anyway, it was a strong perique, smooth, nutty, like a good VAPer I suppose.
Stopped by a B&M yesterday for some pipe cleaners.
Also picked up a pack of AF minis.
I am still drowning in tobacco, but am running out of my favorite, MM Country Gentleman.
So I ordered 2 bags from SmokingPipes. It was backordered until yesterday, as coincidence would have it.
This is my first purchase of tobacco that I wanted to restock on, not just a blind guess.
A step forward in my pipe smoking career.
I bought a bunch of tins at the Pipe & Leaf; they have some great prices on tins.

I think I just scored a helluva deal on Smokingpipes.com.
I got this Savinelli Punto Oro for the whopping price of $50.00. That's not a stock photo, that the actual pipe.
The pics look good. It says there are dings around the rim, so I assume that's why it's so cheap. I bet she smokes like a champ.
Thursday when she gets here, I'll let you know how she does.

Anybody know when the SPC Miss. River label changed? I doubt this is an "older" tin. I figure inventory turns over pretty quickly for this. Maybe just using up old labels?
BUT...
The Katerini is 2007
The Smyrna is 2014
The Syrian star is 2014
The price tag on the Golden Glow looks as old as the McClellands.
Good haul Bryan! Those are some excellent choices. That Sixpence is good stuff! Where did you buy?
Well it arrived today.
Still can't believe they let this gem go for only 50 bucks.
Savinelli Punto Oro. Not even the slightest sign of rim darkening. There's a little cake in the bowl but not very much at all. I doubt if 20 bowls have been smoked in this beauty.
Got some St. James Flake in it already. Bout to see how it is.

My latest P&C purchase. These were all still in my cart from over a month ago. They were kind of a wish list or stuff I wanted to go back and look at. I had completely forgot about them until I logged into my account the day before IPSD.

Oh brother let me tell you. It smokes like a dream.
I have some decent briars like 2 entry level Savinellis and they both smoke very good. I have a pre-Republic Peterson that smokes very nice
But this is the first higher end (to me anyway) pipe that I have had the pleasure of smoking and there is certainly a difference. Maybe I'm just as giddy as a school girl and am giving it more credit than it deserves, I dunno.
But I know I'm loving it.
Another Rattray's Hal O' The Wynd in a Canterbury straight billiard
These are mostly for rolling Brohibas, but posting it here as there's some pipe tobacco in there too.

Top row, l to r, a pound each of Nicaraguan Viso, Dominican seco, and Criollo Ligero, which I'm pretty sure is Nicaraguan.
Center row: half a pound of blending Latakia, an ounce of Full Virginia Flake, and a small sample of PA (shade) wrapper.
Bottom: a small sample of MD 609
Oh I'm with you and for the most part, I don't care what they look like. One of my best smokers is a bent unfinished Savinelli Series III which has several fills that get more obvious all the time as it darkens. But I don't care. It smokes awesome.
And yes, I do really enjoy the dublin shape.
Sorry, wrong thread. It was my last post of the night when I was sleepy.
But to steer it back onto topic, I did recently acquire a lot of a dozen estate pipes. Nothing spectacular, mostly Medicos, a Yello-Bole, some nameless basket pipes, one WDC, and one seriously old pipe with a horn stem. I was able to refurbish nearly all of them, the remainder likely to be re-auctioned for people with more skill than I to play with.
Picked up a Grabow Starfire for less than $9. In good condition, but needs a little work. Sanitizing, then will work on cleaning up the stem and probably topping the bowl a bit.
The grain is really cool.

I also found these at our Goodwill.
Twenty-two jars for under $4!

Received my IPSD order from Smoking pipes today. A couple 1 oz samples of Lane 1-Q, C&D Haunted Bookshop and Bayou Morning. Came with a free sample of Newminster No.400 Superior Navy Flake. I also figured I'd give the three flavors of Pipa a try, for $5 ea., if nothing else I'd get a couple extra cobs out of it. 2 of them are MM cobs and seem good but the vanilla came with a cheap Chinese cob that looks horrible. Oh well for the price I think I came out ahead.

I can't see the pipe for all that cleavage.
Marketing at it's finest...
I'll probably try some tomorrow night, will report back then
I bought four ounces of Sherlock's Blend from Tinder Box. I don't smoke a ton of pipe, but I like that blend.
