I ordered a tin of it this morning. New stuff that came in: Dr. Grabow Grand Duke, Hearth & Home White Knight, SPC Plum Pudding, and a couple ounces of Daughter's & Ryan Ryback, 3 Sails, and Old Joe Krantz.....

About done cleaning up the Grabow Starfire. The Adjustomatic feature is still seized up. Got to figure out how to loosen it up.

Half a pound of PS Amsterdam - Mrs. Bruck likes RYO ciggies made of this, and an ounce of St. James Flake because I didn't want the Amsterdam to feel lonely in the shipping box :)
Did you try smoking it, getting it warm and trying to twist it?
Got this Legion of Honor Commander billiard for $17 on the bay site. It's shaped just like a Dunhill LB and doesn't have any fills that I can see. Legion of Honor is a Mastercraft brand and were made in the USA.

TEN DOLLARS FOR SHIPPING...oh, it's international. Nevermind"
That's a little more pipe than I could smoke...
Same seller, same pipe selling for $50 w/free shipping!
IL Monaco Pipe Pfeife Rusticated Dark Rusticato Rhodesian Bent Handmade Italy | eBay
Boy, I would have lost a bet. I figured the $50 pipe would have sold before the $4000 one.
LOL! Now you can buy that new camper and tell the Mrs. you're paying for it with the money you saved :)
But seriously, maybe y'all can help me out with something... Present pipe aside, the pipes that actually sell for $Ks - what is it that makes them worth that much? I can tell the difference between at $30 Dr. G and a $150 pipe, but I don't think I could tell the difference b/t a $150 pipe and a multi-thousand dollar one.
Other things like vehicles, firearms, boats, guitars, adult beverages - I completely understand the price/value relationship. Not gettin it with the high-end pipes though.
A no name Italian Billiard......

Y'all giving me a lot of laughs.
Hi Bruce,
Short answer; better materials, better craftsmanship and aesthetics drive up the price of a pipe.
Quality briar that's been properly cured is expensive. Hand crafting is always preferred as the best method to make the best pipe out of a quality block of wood. Aesthetics become highly personal but any price above $300 (using an arbitrary high figure) is usually aesthetics based.
Bo Nordh pipes sell in the tens of thousands of dollars because they're traded as art, not smoking instruments. Some pipes sell as collectibles and can retain or appreciate in value even if smoked.
This seller just put a $4,000 tag on a $50 pipe. David (@Droy1958) proved that and got a good value and story.
Does price guarantee a better smoking pipe? No, impossible to tell without smoking it (and results differ between smokers), but a technically well crafted pipe, made by hand (and there are reasons for this), that uses the best briar, is the best candidate to be a superior smoker.
Regards,
Pete

Some old beaters to take to the farm. Medico Ventilator, Ber Briar & a Kleenest. The lockback is a Microtech S35VN.....

Have you ever smoked one of those Ventilators? Nice knife! It looks like a liner-lock.
I swear the pipe slope is greased with boogers and bacon grease! Two years ago: no pipes, no pipe tobacco. Today: over 50 pipes, meers, cobs, briars, clays, hardwoods, several pounds of pipe tobacco in dozens of blends and varieties, a few legal size file drawers full of blending leaves and components.
Run away now! Or if you PM me your address, I'll send you a starter kit :)
Thanks @Haebar for letting me piggyback on your Mr.Snuff order!
